Montessori Chopping Board & Knife | Safe Cutting Tool for Kids

This child-sized chopping board and wooden knife gives young children a simple way to take part in food preparation alongside an adult. Rather than only pretending to cook, children can explore a familiar everyday activity through hands-on, Montessori-inspired practical life play.

What Makes This Toy Useful?

The set turns a small part of an everyday kitchen routine into an opportunity for children to participate, practise controlled movements and experience the satisfaction of doing something for themselves.

• A child-sized kitchen activity: The wooden board and knife are designed for small hands, giving children their own tools for supervised food-preparation activities.
• Practical life through play: Cutting suitable soft foods, arranging ingredients and preparing a simple snack connect play with a familiar real-world routine.
• Hands-on practice: Holding the food steady and using the wooden knife encourages children to coordinate both hands while working through a simple task.
• Encourages growing independence: Completing a small part of meal preparation can give children a sense of participation and responsibility within an everyday family routine.
• Simple, focused play: Unlike toys with many features or fixed outcomes, this set leaves the activity open for parents and children to choose what they prepare together.

Ways Children Can Use It

The best way to introduce this set is through simple, supervised activities that match the child's age and ability. An adult should always supervise children during food preparation.

• Cut soft fruits: With suitable soft foods such as banana or strawberries, children can practise placing food on the board and making simple cutting movements with guidance.
• Prepare a simple snack: Let children help prepare a snack by cutting suitable ingredients and arranging them on a plate.
• Practise spreading: Use the board as a workspace for spreading soft foods such as butter or cream cheese with an appropriate utensil.
• Arrange ingredients: Children can place prepared fruit, vegetables or other ingredients into groups, bowls or plates as part of a simple food-preparation activity.
• Take part in family cooking: Give children a small, manageable role while an adult prepares the rest of the meal, helping them experience cooking as something they can participate in.
